|
|
Hi all,
I've been working on a plugin that simulates a graduated neutral density filter, and it's coming together quite nicely. It will never be as good as the real thing, but the results so far are promising.
Currently, it has:
* Adjustable filter strength (ie how dark the dark part of the filter is)
* Adjustable edge transition (ie how quickly the transition from dark to clear occurs)
* Adjustable offset (vertical positioning of the filter)
Possible future plans:
* Adjustable rotation instead of horizontal only
* Color choice instead of neutral density (for those fake looking sunsets )
Current bugs:
* Doesn't work properly on rotated images
* Not compiled for Windows or Mac users yet
I'll make a version available soon in as many compiled formats as I can manage. In the meantime, if you have a particular interest in trying it out, let me know.
Update: Version 1.0 of ND Grad is now available. For more info, and to continue the discussion in a newer thread, please go to:

Roger,
that's good news.
If you need someone to test it (Kubuntu 7.10), just let me know.
(Currently I use Seans Vignetting plugin as a ND-filter. With the right settings it does the job)

Cool ... Would it be possible to add a feature to select a color ... eg blue sky so that the ND can track it ? may not be possible but thought I would ask ... Ian |

Thanks for the responses, all.
I'm polishing up a linux release (and hopefully other platforms to follow) for beta testing, will try to get it out there in the next few days.

Hi all,
A preview version is now available for Linux users at:
http://digitalarts.mindsocket.com.au/bibble/ndgrad/ndgrad.html
I'll endeavour to get other platforms compiled soon, but it could be a little while, now that xmas holidays are over for me.
Cheers,

Great work.
I will like to point out that normal user also needs read permissions to the ND Grad.ui file. |

Roger,
I just looked at your ND grad filter page - very much like the look of this.
Hope the Windows version will not be long away!
Cheers

Roger,
there is a problen with multiple cpu systems. Have a look at the following screenshot. The effect is visible for each cpu. I used bibblecpu=2 on my 4 cores.

A quick update, I've compiled a Windows version and fixed the threaded processing bug. I'll try to get an updated version online this weekend, possibly with an extra feature or 2.
An advanced warning to current users, the parameter set may change a little in future releases to accomodate new features, and this will potentially affect the saved settings on existing files.
Cheers,
